A World Unheard Of

A World Unheard Of by Maggie J.

New World

Time was non-existent. There was no history, no universe, just an endless empty void. Then, from the darkness, there was something. Something real, more than just an idea that hadn’t been thought of yet. From the nothingness emerged the universe, thousands of glowing galaxies, with shimmering stars and beautifully deadly planets. But there was one planet that was different from all the others. It was pure, clean, unadulterated goodness. A blank slate. Perfect. And soon, it was the beginning of the perfect life for one little creature. Little did that planet know, that that one little creature would soon expand into billions of creatures, all living together on the surface.

However…

No one ever said that these creatures were living in harmony.

As the creatures multiplied and developed over time, tension seemed to grow between them. Each different animal had its own skill set, and it’s own opinion about almost everything. There was one thing in particular that they all had the same thoughts on: they deserved power. This left the animals war torn, all constantly battling with both the current ruler and each other. They were falling into chaos, and there was nothing to guide them out.

Soon, a group or creatures very similar to each other- in status, physical ability, and ideals- all decided that if they worked together, they could all have greater power than any ruler before them. So these creatures- snakes is what they called themselves, with long slender bodies- devised a plan. They realized that they were physically incapable of defeating most other animals, so they designed robotic versions of themselves. These new, robotic snakes were far stronger, and could easily battle even the strongest of the creatures.

With their new asset, the snakes attacked, battling the current ruler, a human who had only been in power for 13 hours, and defeating him quickly. The snakes had rule over all other creatures, animals, plants, and anything that existed on their planet. However, their robot playthings were not happy when they were cast aside, even though they were the ones who had brought the snakes into power. The decided to rebel against the tyrannical snakes, and finally rid the world of their terrible species.

As the robot snakes plan deepend, they realized that it was not only the snakes they had to destroy, but that all living creatures had to be destroyed. It would be for the best, living beings were selfish, foolish, and used and impractical amount of resources. So the robotic snakes planned to fire a laser at the planet, destroying all life present on it. They had already formed a snake-made planet for them to live on, so it was no longer of use to them.

After months of preparation, the robot snakes had prepared a laser that was aimed for the planet. The first time they fired the laser, it skimmed the edge of the planet, causing it to ooze magma and lava, almost as if the planet were bleeding. The second shot hit the planet directly, causing lava to spew out across the once beautiful landscape. When the third shot was fired, the planet shattered, pieces of hot magma and rock flying everywhere. The planet was no more, and neither was life.

The robot snakes all gathered on their new planet, rejoicing at the planet’s destruction. One called out into the crowd, “We should call ourselves the T.R.O.G.S., the Terrible Robotic Organization of Giant Snakes!” The crowd cheered louder, and they were henceforth known as the T.R.O.G.S..

THE TROGS ARE COMING

What the T.R.O.G.S. didn’t know, is that one life form survived. One human, a human child, who clung tightly to what was once the walk of his bedroom. He looked around and saw the body of his now deceased family, and felt the shattered piece of planet he was on crash into a new planet. He knew he had to find a new planet to live on, and fast. The T.R.O.G.S. would almost definitely find him, so he set off, searching for a new planet to call his own.

The boy, ryan, was always fascinated by two things: space and milk. His bed was already built in the shape of a spaceship, so after some minor alterations using old parts from the old lamp that he kept by his dresser and an old broken toy robot, it was really able to fly. Ryan desperately wanted to take the spaceship for a test flight, to make sure he wouldn’t crash when he made his journey, but he lived in fear of the vicious T.R.O.G.S.. If he even so much as left his room while the T.R.O.G.S. were patrolling for more planets to destroy, then they would surely find him, and he’d be executed. So he stayed hidden in the remnants of his decimated house, waiting for the perfect moment to finally escape.MJ Hide Away Pic

One morning, Ryan was just crawling out of his spaceship bed, when he looked up through the hole that was once his ceiling and saw a flash of light. Confused, he ran quickly to his telescope, and saw that the T.R.O.G.S. were charging their laser, and it was aimed for a planet in the opposite direction of the one he planned to escape to. This is it! he thought, It’s finally time to go. So he packed up his bed with his favorite sweaters, a few boxes of Froot Loops, his baby blue guitar, and plenty of milk. In his hand, he held a picture of his family, which he tucked under his pillow as he punched the coordinates of the new planet into the navigation system. “Well,” he looked out into his room, “this is it. It’s time for me to leave.” And with that, he closed the hatch of his bed and started the engine, waiting patiently for the new life that awaited him on this blank planet.

MJ Lift Off

After a long journey, Ryan finally made it to his new home. He was expecting to be met with a totally blank slate, but instead, he got the surprise of his life. In front of his own two eyes were all kinds of creatures, working together to build a better planet for all of them. “Well, this is certainly a sight for sore eyes” ryan said to himself as he tucked his belongings into his makeshift backpack made out of his blankets and sheets. The creatures there taught him about their government, and thie plan to live in harmony. Before he was allowed to stay, they made ryan sign a contract promising to abide by all of their rules. Of course, he did, the planet was lovely, who wouldn’t want to stay? Soon, he was browsing houses, finding a new place to call his own.

Ryan eventually stumbled across a wonderful red house, that reminded him of his old home. “I’ll take it” he told the real estate person confidently.

“I thought you might like this one,” they said, “it really matches your aura.” Ryan soon had packed all of his things into his new home, and had even found himself a job as a producer on a milk farm. He still played shows singing with his guitar on the weekends, and he really loved his life. He still did miss his home sometimes, but that was placed on a backburner in his busy life on the new planet.

Ryan had been living on the planet for a while now, but he wasn’t sure exactly how long. This new planet had 3 suns, and a very different orbit, so the years were very different from those on his old planet. One day, a friend he had made while playing guitar at a coffee shop ran up to him with a big smile.

“Ryan! Look! In the sky!” he looked up and saw a small glowing green object in the distance. “It’s your old planet! I don’t know how, but somehow it’s back!”

A small tear appeared in his eye as he looked out at the familiar planet. “I’m finally going home.” he said a quick polite goodbye to his friend and went home to pack his things.

After throwing the same blue sweater his first came to this planet in into a bag in his bed, he grabbed his family photo and closed the hatch.

“Time to go home” he whispered with a big smile on his face. He started the engine, and went on his way.

When he finally reached his old home, Ryan was aghast. There was rubble everywhere, bloodstains covered the ground, and he couldn’t even get out of his ship without stepping on bullet shells. There was a crowd of people that had gathered around him in a circle, watching him closely.

“Hello!” he yelled out, addressing the crowd. “I was born here, and survived the planet’s destruction! I have learned the ways on a peaceful planet! I’ve come to help!” Ryan stepped out of his ship to walk toward the crowd.

“Stay back!” someone called from the crowed. “You ain’t one of us no more! Yer one of them now!” The crowed yelled out in agreement, and Ryan leaned back onto his spaceship.

“Yeah!” another one called, “we don’t want none of yer kind here!” The crowd moved closer and closer.

Ryan was shocked. Mortified, even. He had come to help these people, to build a better life for him and for them.

“Come here you alien!” Someone from the crowd grabbed Ryan and he fell to his knees.

“Please, listen to me!” He pleaded with the crowd, begging them to hear him out. “I’m trying to help you! Don’t you understand that?” Someone grabbed his arms and pulled him back.

“You’re not one of us, you’re just a monster!” Ryan heard a gun cock, and closed his eyes.

“Say goodbye, alien!” A single tear fell from Ryan’s eye. His lips trembled as he heard the gun fire.

I’m finally home
